Very Dissapointed Bad Service
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
We left on Saturday, January 7, 2012 from Miami. Bus ride was good going from the airport to the terminal. Sunday, January 8, 2012 we were in the middle of the ocean between 6 and 8 am when the ship tilted in our direction, not as far as the Costa, but far enough that the passengers on the 9Th deck in the dining area said that dishes went flying and everything else went flying. Water even came out of the swimming pool into where the elevator was at on the 9Th deck. Butch (cruise director) came on the intercom and said that it was a technical problem and that it would be straightened out by the end of the day. Which it was.
We went to the Family Friendly Comedy show which was a half hour long, and then tried the R rated show in which we walked out after very vulger language. They R rated shows were a total of 3 hours and when I asked the manager why the Family Friendly Comedy couldn't be longer, he said it would run into Supper time.
Food was good.
Staff all would say hi, More because I think that that is all they new how to say in English. We as Americans were a minority on this ship. You couldn't understand very many people on the ship, staff of passengers.
We had a balcony, which we couldn't use because of the people on both sides of us smoking like smoke stacks. My husband and daughter get very sick from smoke. We paid probably $800.00 extra just to have a balcony.
We had put out a breakfast request on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 for our room between 6 and 6:15 am as the horse ride was supposed to leave at 7 am when the ship docked. We waited until 6:40 am and no breakfast. The people at the Hacienda Corabel horse ranch were wonderful, highly recommend. Bus ride to and from had something to be desired. We asked when we got back on board why we didn't get breakfast and they said that they were busy and that they brought it at 6:45 am. They didn't apologize or anything.
We got the Luggage Express so that we didn't have to do anything with out luggage until we got home to Kansas City, MO. They left our luggage tags and our airline boarding tags for us in the room. The luggage tags said from Miami to Memphis so we questioned them. They told us everything would be OK. We paid $60.00 for them to take care of everything. We got to the air port in Miami, bus ride was good. Went to Delta like we were supposed to according to our boarding passes and waited as we got there at 9 am and our plane was not to leave until 1:30 pm. We walked around and saw that the flight had changed to 2:30 pm and the area had changed. My husband went to the new counter and they said that Carnival should have let us know about the changes and that they should have changed the luggage tags. They didn't change anything and we had to go get our luggage the next day so our daughter could go to college. What did we pay for?
We will never go on Carnival or its sister ships again and won't refer anyone else to go on it either. Since our experience I have seen a lot of other reviews on Consumer Reports about other Carnival Ships around the same time we went that had real bad experiences with service. What are you paying for when you go on a cruise? Mose people save up for a year or more to be able to go on a cruise, to be treated like nothing. I don't think so. Less
