EMBARKATION: The Port of Galveston was hit with fog, so naturally it caused delays. Carnival has no say in the weather conditions folks. Get a grip on reality. When schedules get messed up...everything gets messed up. You do the best you can with Mother Nature. Life goes on and it always works out. Carnival had plenty of folks informing everyone that there were going to be delays, so if you chose to ignore the suggestions and had a miserable day...you did it to yourself. Our embarkation went smooth...just late is all.
FOOD: We found the food on the Magic to be excellent. The choices are plentiful. I don't understand anyone who says there is no food selection on this ship. They evidently did not look. Hamburger Grill, Hot Dogs, Pizza Bar, Deli Sandwich Shop (YUMMY), Sushi Bar, Buffet, Dining Room, Room Service, Regular sandwich shop on deck five, and the Italian Restaurant that was free for lunch. The Buffet on deck ten had plenty of Salad and fruit selections. They always had a choice of chicken, beef, pork, or fish on a daily basis. We ate at the Steak House once(extra charge), and it was THE BEST! If you go hungry on this ship, it is your own fault for being so hard to please.
CRUISE DIRECTOR: Really nice guy on stage and in person. Annoying as fingernails on a chalkboard when it came to the daily announcements. Sheer torture. Never ending. On and on and on and on and on.....At one point, people cheered when he finally stopped.
ENTERTAINMENT STAFF: They were well spoken, fun, and funny. They made all the games and trivia a hoot!
SINGERS AND DANCERS: The first two production shows are not to be missed! Skip "WIN". It was awful. I blame that on Carnival producers...not the singers and dancers. The lead lady singer is just wonderful.
SODA PACKAGE: SKIP IT! Once purchased, the bar staff is not really happy to see you use it. Especially in the Theater. Customer Service desk was being run by the "I DON"T CARE SQUAD".
CUSTOMER SERVICE: Oxymoron at its finest. Being a Platinum member really does not mean much to them. We paid a lot of money for an Aft Balcony room and the balcony was unusable for us. The chain smokers next door never let up. It was AWFUL. Customer service actually shrugged their shoulders and said there was nothing they could do. I really HATED my neighbors on this cruise. The whole family smoked. We NEVER got to enjoy our balcony.
A MESSAGE TO CARNIVAL: If you can ask for a dinnertime preference, it seems to me that you could also ask about a smoking preference. Place the smokers on the balconies on one side and let us non-smokers have our own side. First come, first serve basis. Better yet, ban smoking in all rooms and balconies.
