We set sail on Carnival Legend on New Year's Day with four other families (friends) including kids ages 11 through 18 and some grandparents too. I'll preface everything with the fact that I don't have previous experience to compare too, just reports from friends and reviews, etc.

The Tampa port seemed very efficient and boarding was pretty painless. Our first stop on the schedule was Grand Cayman. We were all looking forward to this stop the most. Unfortunately, the weather was bad (wind and rough water) so we couldn't stop. Luckily, we only had reservations for our excursions on land, so no money had exchanged hands. Our "neighbors" told us they had booked excursions through a travel agent and they were non-refundable. So we headed to Cozumel. It was still windy when we left the ship at 8 a.m. We wore jackets. We decided not to do Chankanaab beach park due to uncertainty of the weather, since you had to pay $20 pp entry fee. We took a cab downtown to shop. Then went to a beach "on the other side." We ate lunch there and enjoyed some sunshine. Next day in Roatan, we did the zipline with Clip-n-zip. It was within walking distance from the ship. There were 11 lines. We all gave it thumbs up. Afterwards, we walked to the beach at Mahagony Bay. There was all the chairs, toys for rent, food, etc. Not the place for waves or snorkeling, but good for sun and play. Last stop was Belize. Our whole group went cave tubing with cavetubing.com. My kids were hoping for rapid waters, but it was very calm. We had about a one-hour bus trip inland. Speedo made the trip very interesting, telling us about the country and seeing the area. We all enjoyed the experience and got a much better price than the ship's excursion.

It would have been nice to have more time at all of the ports, in my opinion. On the ship we enjoyed the comedy shows, both family-friendly and adult-only; Music; trivia contests, sun decks, etc. We used the anytime dining at Truffles. Dinner was usually a long, drawn-out experience. Obviously, if you have anytime dining, you don't get the personalized service. But our service was only average or worse. We enjoyed the food and the kids tried lots of new things.

We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the rooms. Plenty of space. We had a balcony, room 7133. Great views. Kids had interior rooms but no one complained about space.
