WHAT A GEM!!!

Sail Date: January 2012
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Tampa

We were just so overwhelmed with the beauty of the ship and all that came with it. First let me say that the boat was spotless, the staff are constantly cleaning and make it shine! Getting on and off the boat is done with expertise and is entirely painless. The stateroom we had was both functional and attractive and our attendant did a terrific job in making sure it was clean and comfortable, (I highly recommend a balcony if you can afford one as it adds to the sights and sounds of cruising). We ate all our dinners in the main dining room and I can't imagine having better food or service in any 5 star hotel, (thank you Marivic and Aziz). We ate lunch and breakfast in the Windjammer, (buffet style) and there is lots of variety for any taste, the food is tasty and once again the place is spotless and the service outstanding.
Carly B and her sidekick Becky made sure we had lots of great activities and absolutely outstanding nightly entertainment in the main theatre (The Coral), More the productions varied from comedy to music and everything in between.
This all does not happen without exceptional leadership and the captain and his staff must work very hard to make sure everyone is happy and satisfied as there is a lot of cruise competition out there.
We highly recommend the Radiance Class of Royal Caribbean, they are an absolutely beautiful ship.

We also went on two shore excursions. In Cozumel we went on the Amazing Cozumel Race, (like the amazing race), it was a lot of fun and you get to see lots of Cozumel. The townspeople were very helpful, however we did not win, (hard to believe, ha, ha).
In Costa Maya we had a great experience on a tour by Native Choice. We did the Mayan Experience and it was nothing short of terrific. Joel, the guide, was a wealth of great information on the Mayan people. We then had lunch with a Mayan family. If you want to get a great cultural experience, this is the excursion for you. The vans they use are air conditioned and modern as it involves some travel to do this tour, but well worth it. (They do the driving.)
We have many PRECIOUS memories from our trip on the Jewel.
Thank you Royal Caribbean and Native Choice!!! Less

This involves picking up clues from locations in order to move on to the next location. You even get to go in the Caribbean for a swim, go to a museum and meet lots of great local people.

This was a great experience. We visited the ruins at Chuchaben (probably spelled that wrong) and the guide, Joel, was a wealth of knowledge as he was Mayan and had worked with the archaeologists who excavated the site. He then took us to have lunch with a Mayan family and the food was delicious, all local, in fact they had a display laid out to show us the various foods they grew and ate, but most of the all the people were great and made us feel very welcome. They really went out of their way. Currently this tour is not available through the cruise line, you have to book it on the net, look under Native Choice, Costa Maya. They even pick you up and take you to the start of the tour, all included in the price.
