Our cruise started out and ended fantastic! We drive to Fort Lauderdale and normally park at the terminal. This time we tried parking at the Park & Go on Eller Drive. Why did it take me so long to discover them? I pre booked the parking on-line and saved $2.00/day. I drove up and they directed me to the staging area where my bags were put on the shuttle and we left within 5 min of arriving. I asked the people who were already on the shuttle how long they had been waiting and they had just got on before us. I tried to help the man load my bags but he told me no, I was on vacation, he would load them. A short drive through the back way into the port and we were dropped off at the ship. When we returned to Fort Lauderdale, the Park & Go vans were driving by the ships about every five to ten minutes. They get your information when they pick you up and have your car ready when you get to their lot. They drive you to your car and help you load your luggage! I highly recommend them!
The Grand Princess was in great shape and our cabin was fine. We had a balcony cabin. Nothing new to report about the cabin. The ship was very clean and looked great after the yard period. I was a little afraid because of some reviews I read, but everything was up and running.
We were disappointed in the service on the ship. It was very efficient, but not personal. Our waiter and assistant waiter, while very efficient, were not very likable. We have iced tea with dinner every night and had to ask for it each night. They did not ask our names nor if we liked anything special. The food was always brought out quickly, correct and was delicious. The empty plates were removed and the table prepared for the next course without being asked if the food was good or if you wanted anything else.
