This should be a premium cruise line as it has been in the past. After 4 cruises with HAL, I have noticed a steady decrease with them. First off, they get you to fill out a customer satisfaction survey that might give the impression that a passenger has some input into possibly making things better for future cruisers. Come on HAL, have you ever addressed anyone's concerns? They have never responded to mine.
OK, so here comes the good and the bad....
The good is the crew. They are amazing and exceptionally capable. Then to the food. It is very good to excellent. For those who want more bean sprouts, tofu and diet products - stay home!. Cruise ships are about rich and tasty foods.
The bad is administration. A few simple problems to fix regarding the swimming pools were way too much to handle for them. The only signage for the adult pool was one small sign that said adults only pool. Right next to it a contradictory sign that said children under 14 required supervision? There was no sign on the other pool that said for families and children. On the second day out there was a child in diapers in the adult only pool. Then more kids to follow. The front desk assured us they would fix this but they never did. Hardly a premium cruise line.
Then there was the booking on board promotion debacle.... It consisted of a bottle of wine and free lunch in the Pinnacle grill that was included if booked on board. We were told no, it's not on file. They requested further documentation and we showed them when the booking was made and they again said no! We requested they contact head office. 'Two days', later they said a mistake was made and they would give us the promotion.
Don't use the internet service. It is way too slow and too expensive at 75 cents a minute. Use the internet at a port instead.
The ocean bar used to have 2 for 1 specials at happy hour. Now they want a buck on top of it. They promised appetizers every night but none ever came. Best thing to do is bring on your own booze and don't buy theirs.
