We enjoyed ourselves immensely. It was fun watching all the families celebrating together. We were blessed to be seated with dining companions in our age group and all of us with common interests.
We don't understand why Carnival is afraid to enforce their dress policy, however. Why publish Cruise Elegant guidelines if you're going to allow a guy in a baseball cap and a guy in shorts to dine in the Northern Lights on Cruise Elegant nights? This is just disrespectful to the other guests.
Also, we did not understand why unaccompanied children were allowed to sit at the bar in the Red Frog Pub, then hop from table to table. The ship provides plenty of kid's spaces, so why are they allowed in the bar without parents? The bartender informed us he did not want to offend them by asking them to leave.
The food in the Prime Steakhouse was excellent, although the portions were overwhelming! Service was fantastic! Can't say the same for the food or the service in the Northern Lights, though. In fact, the last night of our cruise, the food was so bad that no one at our table even ate it!
Overall, we'll stick to the smaller cruise lines from now on. Having said that, we still would not have missed this opportunity to sail on such a beautiful ship!
