Great Ship for the Whole Family

Sail Date: December 2011
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Port Canaveral

Overall the Ship has be updated with a ton of great features, including a jumbo tron TV by the pool, 3D movies and touch screen monitors by the stair wells. The ship was big enough to find a secluded location, but also included a ton of wonderful activities. We love the Flow-rider, Golf Course, Hot Tubs, Jumbo Tron TVs and the ice skating rink. The 12 year old boys spent most of their time on the Flow-rider (Both Boogie / Stand-up Boards). The teenage girls did a little bit of everything from Flow-rider to Hot Tubs. Overall the kids normally had plenty to do.

Sometimes it was difficult to keep to the ships agenda for ice skating or movies, but overall it was a good time. They could have utilized the ice skating rink and jumbo tron a lot more. Also the screening room for movies is a joke, it is a small room with 50 chairs and a small TV. They need a better midsized room for movies. We did the My Time dining and still had the same waiter the whole time. Our two port More stops were nothing special and were extremely shot (6-7 hours), so it was hard to do much. The Tender boats to Grand Cayman took forever, make sure you get a low tender ticket number, otherwise you will be waiting for hours. Cozumel cabs can be a big pain when you first hit the port (long confusing lines). The food was excellent each night and the buffet was quite large.

Overall my biggest complaint was the access to water and drinks on the ship (Go to buffet or 5Th floor). Also the ice cream line was a joke, all they had was a small machine on the pool deck and it was closed most of the day. It looked like they tried to put in self service pop machines, but they closed them 1/2 halfway thru our cruise. They did push drinks from the bar pretty hard during the day, I got a little tired of saying "NO Thank You".

Overall the entertainment was good, ice skating show was great, Flow-rider is great (but long lines), food was good, service was excellent and we will be back. Less

Cabin review: Freedom of the Seas Superior Oceanview Stateroom Deck 6 6372

Room 6372 - Balcony was huge, we had 4 people in the room on a King Bed and a couch that converted to a double (Which they never closed back to a couch). Bathroom was tiny and shower would spray everywhere when turned on. Closet is big so take extra hangers. Location a little far from stair well, but hallways are huge between rooms.

Port and Shore Excursions

(3)
Royal Palms Beach Club - A little overpriced for experience, but beach and facilities were nice. $2 entry fee gave you access to pool and restrooms. Chairs were $10 extra and food/drinks were pricey (Beer $6/Pop $3).

Paradise Beach Club - good value for price. Entry Fee $2 and you got Chairs, large pool, beach and restrooms. Additional $12 for water sports, including kayaks, water toys, snorkeling and trampoline. Beer cost $4 and water bottles were $2.50. Best so far in Cozumel.
