The Westerdam is a nice clean ship with top quality service. We had a verandah (222 sq.ft.) and an inside (N) cabin on the Navigation deck all the way aft. a great spot to get to the Seaview (adult) pool and the Lido deck Buffet restaurant. We were suprised how hard it is to get hydrated. all free (coffee, water, tea and iced tea) were hard to obtain. it feels like HAL wants you to buy your water a, pop/soda, and or alcoholic drinks. I think i would have bought more alcoholic drinks if I had easier access to drinking water. Our trip (beyond HAL control) had terrible high wind. 40 to 50 knts was not out of the ordinary during the whole trip. Due to this a lot of shore excursions were cancelled. This weather caused rolling and listing that was not liked by quite a few passengers.
My 24 and 26 yr old sons wished there was a little more stuff geared towards their age. The night club wouldn't play songs for their age group during request hour at midnight as per the DJ " it might upset the older aged passengers".
Some of the ships activities where run through or dismissed because of lesser interest by most passengers even-though some passengers spend a lot of effort and time to participate.
The production quality of the shows on board was top notch it was a pity the performance weren't of that quality. The ships band was very talented but the singers weren't of the "Glee" quality.
Overall this was a good cruise the Cabin Ninjas (Stewards) and all service was top notch although sometimes there was a communication problem with the half Indonesian and half Filipino crew no matter if you talked English or Dutch. No matter how good the service this can be a problem and nuisance.
We would recommend this cruise to any one especially the stops at Half Moon Cay, Auba, Curacoa, and Bonaire.
