We have cruised on RCI many times, been on many of their ships. This was the third time on Nav of the Seas. We arrived to the port early and good thing we did as we were stuck in a little building for hours, nothing to eat or even a bottle of water was offered. We waited and waited as the "Coast Guard" checked out the ship. RIGHT..we found out later, there was some nasty bug on the ship and they had to clean....we were the lucky ones, the poor people outside were stuck in the heat, at least we were inside with something to sit on...RCI did a very POOR job with that. They have been in business way too long to have handled that situation the way they did. They got BAD marks on that one.
We finally did get on board and at least the ship was clean and shiny... We were able to go to our stateroom immediately, due to the timing. We did have an incredible stateroom attendant. He was incredible and such a great guy. Hope he is enjoying his time at home...He was getting ready to have a break and boy do they earn their time off. Ash, is you're reading this, have fun with your family.
We did four ports, all but St. Kitts we have been to before. We loved St. Kitts, it's now right up there with my favorite spot to visit. Want to go back there for a week or so. We ended up not having an excursion and we found an incredible tour guide right off the ship. He took us for a tour of the entire island and what an incredible day it was. What a great way to see the place.
If you ever go to St. Marteen, DON'T do the Lord Sheffeld. It's a horrible excursion and the first time in my sailing with RCI that we had a bad experience with on RCI's excursions. The excursion desk wasn't helpful with it either. Bad marks on this one. All across the board.
Another bad mark was the wine paring in Chops. Don't do it. If you want to go to Chops, I say go for the regular dinner. The wine paring is a rip off. You pay too much money and the food isn't any different than what you get in the dinning room. The service was horrible and let's just say, it was a BAD experience and one we will never do again.
Our dining room staff was AWESOME. We just loved Lang and Alexander. They made our week awesome. You know your dining room staff can make or break you. We had two of the most fun. They should get points and cudos as they are great....
For the most part, it was a great cruise. However, you can sure see RCI cutting back on everything. The service in the Windjammer, there was NONE. I don't know what has happened, however, I am thinking it's almost time to look at other lines again. We have always been loyal to Royal, however, it appears they are really falling down.
