This was our 8th Carnival cruise and 19th over all. We also use RCCL and Celebrity depending on price and itinery.
Carnival Victory is a very nice ship. We upgraded to an Ocean Suite because it was very reasonably priced. The extra space was nice along with the large balcony.
Embarkation was very easy thanks to VIP status which comes with the suite. We were first on board at around 12:15 pm
Early seating in the dining room. Our head waiter, Zolton was very good, one of the best we have had. Food was very good. Many of the negative reviews are over exagerated in my view
The Lido deck dining is another matter. The reports about very long, slow lines are accurate. This needs to be addressed by Carnival. This was probably the worst we have seen. The food was fine once you got to it, with the exception of the scrambled "eggs", these were not good at all. Stick to the Omelette stations where you can get freshly prepared eggs to order and great omelettes.
We enjoyed the shows, and the comedy club. We only attended the family rated comedy shows with were good.
Itinery is the highlight of this cruise. You only have one sea day and 5 stops at probably some of the best locations in the southern carribean.
Debarkation was relatively easy except for the fact that only US citizens could use the Self Assist, early departure program in San Juan which makes absolutly no sense. We have never encountered this before.
All in all the cruise was very good and the negative reviews need to be taken with several grains of salt! If you go looking for things to complain about you can find them, if you don't you will have a good time
