Miracle cruise to Aruba Dec.12. 2011

This review hopefully will tell the good, and the not so good of this cruise.
We left the night before and stayed at the Hampton Inn North in FLL. Great hotel with a park and stay and a free shuttle to the port. Went to Bubba Gump's and Jaxson's Ice cream the night before. Both great places to eat.

Monday we left the hotel at 10:30 and arrived within a few minutes at the port. Total disorganization in the special needs section (for mom) and also the computers kept going down. Knew there would be a problem down the line. Onboard by noon and ate lunch and took pictures of the ship. The artwork is fantastic and the ship very easy to navigate.
Highlights from the ship per day.

Day 1 Cruise
Director is Malcolm "Woo Hoo". After the first 10 of those it became rather annoying. I will say his partner Brandon was so much better.
Show was Welcome aboard show (10:30 only)

Day 2.. Sea Day
Show is More Generations, Formal night, Captains Celebration in the promenade.

Day 3 Grand Turk
Show is world's greatest showoff. Dress was Black and Bling

Day 4 la Romana, Dominican Republic
Show was singing with the big band.
We did a Village tour which I would recommend. Very informative.

Day 5 Aruba
No formal shows.. Game show mania and Love and Marriage Game.
Shore excursions were the butterfly farm (ok.. you get about 30 minutes there), The Aloe factory.. (Not worth the time or money). You get an 15 minute lecture, go upstairs for 10 minutes, look down at a factory ( no pictures allowed) and then down to the store. It was then off to Natural Bridge which was fantastic.
Midnight buffet was Mexican. NO food on the lido deck, just like the regular everyday food in Horatio's.

Day 6 Curacao.
Show was "film within a film"
I loved this port! Took a tour of the city, Went to a plantation house,
Hato Caves was about the best shore excursion the entire cruise. If you like underground caves with bats, stalagmites and stalactites, so this tour. Also saw a few Iguanas'
Went to the Curacao Liqueur factory.. Bought Rum!

Day 7 Sea Day
Show was Ticket to Ride.
Formal night

Day 8 Sea Day
Show was Carnival Legends.

Overview of cruise

Service was good.. Had a table for 14.. We were the only 3 that showed up. Porchello was a great waiter.

Food was okay.. Not over the top, sometimes only lukewarm, other times amazingly hot. Buffets were typical.

Our room was 5th floor forward with a balcony. Very small room with a balcony. Always kept neat and clean. Towel animal every night.

The ship is going into dry-dock in January to put new bedding, carpeting, etc.

Never heard from the Captain but once a day and he was never around. The first 2 days of the cruise were very rough seas and barf bag were around all the elevators. By the 3rd day we were ready to be on land. I have never felt a ship rock that bad.

Would I do this cruise again.. Probably because of the ports, and definitely not in December. Less
