We are seasoned cruisers-started cruising in 1987 when a big ship was about 750 passengers We have done over 30 cruises and this was number 10 on Princess. We prefer the Grand class and The Grand Princess had been our introduction to Princess back in 2002-we fell in love with her and the class of ships and keep returning to them. We wanted to see the changes in the Grand since her refit and the removal of Skywalkers. The changes are great!
We take the Cruise Connection bus to the port and home-a great way to travel if you live in Florida-embarkation was a breeze. We found our cabin, got some lunch attended the muster drill and explored the ship-loved what we found.
This cruise took us to Princess Cays, Curacao and Aruba. We took the boat ride to Princess Cays and enjoyed a lovely afternoon in the shade on a lounge chair. We hadn't been to Curacao since 1988-it has changed a lot-but we got off the ship, walked around and returned. It rained when we were in Aruba curtailing our shopping-but we enjoyed a beer at a great little local bar and restaurant and returned to the ship.
I always book an inside guarantee and have never been disappointed-this time I should have checked further. We were assigned A720-very far aft on Aloha deck-turns out it is under the decking behind the Lido and very noisy-if you are not an early riser this is not the location for you. Even at night it was noisy and we will avoid this area in the future. We did ask for and received a cabin reassignment and ended up on Plaza in P220-very far forward. It was very quiet-but I would caution anyone if they like to go to bed prior to the show being over in the Princess Theater, you can hear the music during the production numbers-otherwise, it was an excellent location and we would be happy to be there again.
