Cruisin' on the Constellation

Sail Date: December 2011
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

This was our first time on the Constellation and we found it to be a very comfortable ship. Everything was in excellent condition and it was easy to get everywhere on the ship. Workers kept the ship immaculate.

We were surprised to find that over 1000 cruisers had been on this ship previously. We've been on several Celebrity ships and were a bit disappointed in the food in the dining room on this one. It was all good but not exceptional as it has been on others. The Tuscan Grill is definitely worth the extra fee as the service and the food were outstanding!

We enjoyed hearing Perry Grant in Michael's Club. One needs to go in with an open mind and a willingness to look at things a bit differently. We never heard him repeat a song during the hours that he entertained us. Also, we felt that his was the best main theater entertainment of the two weeks. The other shows in the theater were good but not great. We'd also suggest that the aerial artists be replaced by More some other type of entertainer. 545 Express did a good job as an a Capella group.

Our cabin steward and his helper were phenomenal!! Couldn't ask for better.

The itinerary was great - plenty of sea days and interesting ports if you hadn't been there before. Swimming with the sting rays in Antigua was a highlight! Less

Cabin review: Celebrity Constellation 8070

Cabin 8070 - balcony was a bit small and chairs did not have foot stools - probably no room for them. Cabin was comfortable and bathroom is roomy by ship standards. It's a bit far from the mid-ship elevators but was in a quiet location, easy to get to.

Port and Shore Excursions

We took the ship's tour to swim with the sting rays. It was an awesome experience. Unfortunately, the grounds around the area where the boats docked were really a mess. The ground at Sting Ray City was mushy and muddy and covered with rooster droppings. It was very unpleasant walking around in that area. Otherwise, the boat ride out to the sting rays and the adventure itself was great! Perhaps the owners/operators could remove the roosters or keep them off the walking areas or put stepping stones, etc. Walking in rooster droppings was most unpleasant.

Took a private van tour with JNJTours. Stan Grainger led the tour and was very good. There were six of us from the ship and he accommodated everyone's requests. He allowed plenty of time for exploring and enjoying.

Took the ship's historical tour. Not much to see here. Screen printing stop was quite interesting but not much else to see....
