Norwegian Jewel to Bahamas

Sail Date: December 2011
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: New York (Manhattan)

We sailed the Jewel December 10-17 2011. Getting on the ship is amazing, no problems and it was the easiest we have seen. Our balcony state room10610 comfortably accommodated 2 adults and 2 kids with soft bed and bunk beds. Once in the cabin we noticed lighting in our room was dim. The itinerary was no big thing, because we had been to the Bahamas in an earlier cruise.

The Indian Vegetarian buffet on the ship had plenty of choices and we enjoyed it very much. I love the anytime dining, and it worked out well, never saw lines in any of the restaurants. Our Grandsons enjoyed the Tsar main dining rooms so much we ate our daily dinner there. The Children menu on the ship excellent, our Grandsons enjoyed them very much. They had shrimp Cocktail every day and we ate our deserts at the Garden Cafe. Every night they made Crape served with fruits with melted milk chocolate or white chocolates from the fountain. Our Grandkids really had blast every night.

Nickelodeon s program More and breakfast are best for the kids of all ages. The sponge Bob and his friends, Dora is some of the programs mesmerize the Kids, they breakfast with them on one morning. The Slime live program also drove the kids near frenzy. The comedian and entertainment on Stardust Theater, Band on the Run and other Singers in various lounges were also great. Wednesday night we had dinner with Ship's Doctor on the main dining room, a NCL traditions to promote camaraderie between their repeat passengers and the ships Officers. Chocoholic buffet on Thursday night was fantastic.

The ship is kept immaculate condition because of the constant up keeping by the crews. The crews are very happy and enjoyed working for NCL must be a good employer. This ship very beautifully decorated with paintings and murals and also decorated nicely for the holidays. At Port Canaveral we took ship arranged Kennedy Space Center tour. It was not crowded and the kids enjoyed the tour, 3 D movies, and other programs very much. Due to high winds the ship couldn't anchor at Great stirrup Bay, the crews very quickly arranged an alternative Sea day program. Next day the ship docked in Nassau Bahamas. We went to the see the Pirates Museum. There was not much there for 6-9 year old kids to see. We came back to the ship.

Our Grand Children enjoyed being on Deck 12 water slide and heated pool and hot tubs. We also p paid deposits for 2 future cruises as we got back $ 200 ship board credit for this cruise, which is a great buy so you may want to check into this and you can only do it on the ship. Other than that, I would book this cruise again. The price is good and the service is excellent. Disembarkation took us only 15 minutes from the ship to exit door, so smooth and easy. Our Grandsons are looking forward to go on Epic and Breakaway in the future. As they enjoyed this cruise so much. Thank You NCL for making week a great vacation for us. We do like the Jewel, once is not enough sailing on her may be going on her again with my wife's Aunt next year. Less

Cabin review: Norwegian Jewel 10610

Cabin 10610, very comfortable, and adequate for 2 adults and kids, mid ship and quiet location. Lighting is dim and bathroom is small

Port and Shore Excursions

This Port is very busy with 5 ship arriving that day. We went to Bahamas Pirate Museum. They had one replica of a Pirate ship. There are lot of information for adults, the kids were sorely disappointed because there is nothing for their entertainment

The port is outside the town. We took the excursion to Kenndey Space Center. It was crowded, looked like a ghost town after the end of the Space shuttle program. Orlando entertainment parks are 2 hr away and there as not enough time to Disney World, Universal Studio or Sea World. I think NCL should drop this port in favor of another Port in Florida.
