Embarkation: Arrived at pier at 11:15 AM. Started boarding at 12 noon so very smooth process to getting on the ship. Room was ready for us to use. Ate lunch at the Horizon Court buffet where we enjoyed lunch each day of the cruise. We joined in the sail away deck party then off to a CC informal meet & greet. Met a few of our CC board group that we blogged with for 4 months. Nice start to a great cruise. Toured the ship & pleasantly surprised of the layout which was very easy to get around & never felt crowded on the sold out ship.
What we liked: Ship Layout, Gym, & separate areas for pools. The resistance pool was fantastic. Breakfast buffet was adequate with nice variety. The personal touch for breakfast & lunch with drink & waiter service was a nice touch. Entertainment was very good, Esp. The "Beatle Maniacs". Nice lounges with live bands. LIVE BANDS make the difference. Especially liked "Cruise Control" with a nice variety of dance music.. "Fusion" was good also. The real touch was dancing to the "Emerald Orchestra" in the Explorer's lounge & Fusion Lounge after dance lessons. Looked forward to dinner every night (8:15 seating) because of the 6 other people that we we fortunate to be with. Great conversations & interaction.
Live orchestra gave the nightly shows the extra touch needed.
What we didn't like: Late shows after dining. Had to rush to get to the theater after dinner. Like to have 7 PM shows & then dinner. Then have time for relaxing in the lounges & dancing & enjoying the music. Also not enough dance floor in the wheelhouse bar for a band (Cruise Control) that were easy to dance to but no room for enough couples to have room to dance. They would have been great in the Explorers Lounge where more people would be open to dance.
