We enjoyed our Hawaii cruise. The food was better than ever...Our favorites were the Wahoo, Chateaubriand & the Lobster. On the last formal night they served Lobster & prawns, pass on the prawns & ask them to bring two orders of lobster....If something looks good order it...they will bring you 2 or even 3 meals if you want. The pasta specials can be ordered in an appetizer size if you want. We ended up asking for wedge salads (white crisp lettuce) with the Caesar or whatever favorite dressing you like. There is an omelet & Belgian waffle station in the morning as well as the buffet & International Dining Room for sit down breakfast.
The one thing I missed getting to do & suggest you try for lunch was the British-Style Pub Lunch in the Savoy. They offered it about 3 times on the cruise. The afternoon tea has the best scones...pass on the other items & get those with the jam & whip cream. Okay enough about food...oh by the way...if you take the stairs instead of the elevator & use the gym you won't gain weight or at least only 1 or 2 pounds...
Zumba class was fun & great exercise for us women (some men showed up too) . The early morning one was the best class.
Oceans Quartet was the best. We tried to get down to level 5 at least a half hour before dinner to listen to this group. Very enjoyable.
If you have anytime dining you can make reservations for the first 3 nights when you get on board either in Sabatinis or dialing DINE the first day & then each night after make them for the next available night. The 5:45 is best as by then there are no lines. We rotated each dining room as we went along & I requested a window table for 6 & got one every night. If you have a later dinner any night be sure to try Vivaldi. You can go there after 7:45 without a reservation.
If you like coffee be sure to buy the coffee card as you pay $33. & get 15 specialty coffees like Lattes, Mochas or the frozen coffees & with the card you get free coffees, teas & hot chocolate ( coffee in the dining room is not that good).
The Thermal Pass is a good deal also. They sold it for $99. for the whole cruise & it is heated lounge chairs in the spa with use of sauna & steam rooms.
On the 5 days heading home they offered half price auctions on spa treatments so a full Swedish massage was $60. Instead of $119. The stone massage is very nice but not the long one where they place stones & leave them for a bit. The short one for $89. was 50 minutes and they held the stones while doing the massage. They might even do it for less if you ask them to.
The shows were good with pretty good singers & dancers. The Hypno-tainment Matthew Fallon was good & the pianist Ryan Ahern was great.
Suggestions....take return address stickers to use on the luggage tags, Purex 3 in 1 strips for laundry, a tide stick, a highlighter to mark things you want to do in the Patter & your own wine if you like wine to have in your room or to be able to take a glass into the dining room.
Those were the highlights of the trip & I am sure I forgot some things but hopefully these will help make this cruise even more special. Be sure to buy the future cruise offer as it lowers your deposit & gives you on board credit on your next cruise.
