Explorer of the Seas
This was our 5th cruise with RCL and the most disappointing. The ship is in dire need of overhaul. Our balcony was peeling paint chips the size of dollar bills. We received a note while at sea that the balcony was to be repainted but they never showed up. The ship came in with stained and dirty windows everywhere and were never cleaned. The carpets were stained and needed replaced.
We were stuck in a dining room off the main dining area far away from the kitchen which made us the last to get fed and out of the dinning room (even though we booked 6 months in advance and repeat customers].The on board activities were the same as first cruise in 1992. (maybe we're just getting jaded !?!)The Windjammer food was stale and the dinning room food was below average. Our dinning companions were fantastic. If not for them this cruise would have been a total bust.
The TV reception was spotty at best. The ships crew were nice and accommodating. Our housekeeper and waiter were More great. The cruise director was especially good. We switched from Norwegian Cruise Line because we did not care for the FreeStyle dinning, but now we will rethink that decision.
LABADEE, HAITI------plenty to do or just lounge on the beautiful beach. This was the pearl of the whole trip. The zip line, roller-coaster,food,--- the cruise line got it right this time. The only drawback is the pushy natives which I can sympathize with and understand trying to make a sale. Less

The balcony suck. When sitting in a chair the railing is at eye level with only a foot of glass (which was dirty and stained the whole cruise) below that and then metal the rest of the way to the deck. Aside from the peeling paint and rust you had to stand up to see out. The room had adequate storage and bed was confortable. The TV rarely had reception which was annoying.
Port and Shore Excursions
Having been to St. Maarten several times we usually jut go to Maho beach out by the airport. There usually isn't anyone there but was suprised to find it overrun with tourist. Guess the advent of YouTube and the internet let the cat out of the bag. Also, couldn't believe the prices in Philipsberg. Skyrocketted!!
