We thought about going on this Hawaii cruise a few years ago but read the Cruise Critic reviews and changed our minds. Back then the reviews said beware of the horrible all American wait staff and terrible attitudes. No Mr. this or Mr that, no yes sir! it was all about, "hold on dude" from smart alec American kid working there. Anyway the reviews have since gotten better and we really wanted to try it, so we booked the Dec 3rd, 2011 cruise. We were prepared for crummy service and did not expect much. Our sights were set on low. We just wanted to use the ship as a floating hotel and do some excursions to see the islands neither one of us had seen before, but had heard about our whole lives.

Just got off that same Pride of America from cruising seven days around Hawaii. It was our 30Th anniversary present to ourselves. The first night we did the "Cruise Critic meet and greet" with all the important officers from food and beverage and the hotel and entertainment, and the Captain. All of them. Very impressive. They hosted us at five thirty in one of the bars with free Mia Tai's and snacks. Each one introduced themselves and said that they wanted us to have a wonderful cruise and if there was anything at all they could do to make our cruise better that we should let them know. Personally. They are concerned with what we write here on the Cruise Critic and encouraged us to write but also to make sure that they knew anything that wasn't right as well, while we were still there on the ship. They basically wanted to make sure what it was we were going to complain about and try to fix it. Very much concerned with us because of the power of the pen. That's the way it should be.

Impressive. Clean as a pin. The chrome sparkled, I dared my wife to find a stain on the carpet. anywhere, she could not. This ship is clean.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BC

room 8118, the worst side of the ship to be on, but we took our chances and got a balcony cabin to save money if you let them pick the cabin numbers for you. great central location with a tiny bit of a blocked view because of the lifeboat barely in the way if a whale floats by.
