Ship Facts: Freedom of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Freedom of the Seas Deck Plans
Very disappointed. Please read before booking with this ship
I will keep this review short and sweet.

This was the 2nd time I've cruised this ship before. The first time was in 2006 when the ship was still brand new. At that time it was the biggest and best ship of their fleet. Nothing to complain about then. The ship, staff and food superior.

With that said, things have taken a big turn for the worst. The ship has gone downhill. Cut backs have been made BIG TIME! And I think that's because both Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas cost 1.4 billion to build.

During this cruise the people were older. I would guess average age 65+.

FOOD:

The food was sub-par to say the least. Everyone on the ship complained. Every single breakfast and lunch in the Windjammer Cafe was the same everyday!!! Predominantly Indian food and curry. Ice cream machine hours were from 11:00-8:00. If you wanted ice cream anytime after that, you would then need to purchase it from Ben & Jerry's in the Promenade. Dinner in the dining room was good. Not the best choices, but much better than the windjammer. Deserts were fair. Johny Rockets was a lot of fun. Please note that there's a $4.95 cover per person, but it's all you can eat. The cafe closed at 9pm and no midnight buffet. If you were hungry after 9pm, you can eat pizza or small snack sandwiches in the promenade. Pizza was fair.

ACTIVITIES:

I wasn't too impressed with the activities. The gym, golf, flowrider, ice skating and rock climbing was fantastic, but the daily activities were very redundant and boring. Movies were repeated. The ice show and magic show was great!

At one time the kids H20 zone was closed for 2 days so that they could do some maintenance and replace the turf.

STAFF:

I found for the most part that the staff was unfriendly. Alan Brooks the cruise director was awesome along with the greeters in the Windjammer. Our room attendant complained about her job and was very unfriendly. We only received 3 animals and NO chocolates on the pillows. Room cleanliness was fair. Our balcony slider nor windows were ever cleaned.

PORT OF CALLS:

The ports were great! Just wish there was a 4th stop.

OVERALL:

I would NEVER book on this ship again!!! I'm willing to give Royal Caribbean another shot and that's only because I have lots of points with them.
