We made an early booking and enjoyed the time ahead and until we boarded this new ship on Nov. 18. Already, when we opened the door to our stateroom was astonishing: the skyline of Manhattan including the stature of Liberty was a view we will remember forever.
We enjoyed the room we were assigned to, enough space for our personal belongings and for our own comfort, spacious bathroom, a very comfortable bed and a big enough balcony. Maybe an idea to add a reading lamp. The design of the cabin was perfect. TV and information service was excellent, the daily services by the room attendant perfect, new flowers very day, fresh fruit basket, and the canapes ahead of the daily dinners were a perfect start for the evening.
We had dinner at Murano`s, the Tuscan grill, Qsine a part from the main dining room. We enjoyed every meal, served by a very nice staff. If we should come up with some critics it will hurt Qsine. A fantastic idea should probably be better communicated to its customers. Second, the food was more a gimmick than cuisine-like. Again it was a fantastic concept, but when we understood the entire menu system, we already were well-fed.
The steaks were succulent and perfect - stick to it. French cuisine should be left to the French. A nice surprise were all the dishes from Asia and other parts from the world a nice opportunity to try all these new creations during lunchtime.
We enjoyed our breakfasts at the nice upper deck restaurant and at a low-calorie food outlet at a pool side.
We enjoyed our daily exercises on the track and in the fitness center (the room is unfortunately a bit too small, so we never could join in). We relaxed most comfortably on our balcony and when we read our books close to the pools, although a bit noisy, but one is at least among people for a while.
The daily shows in the theatre were to our liking, too. However, some of the artists & comedians jokes were mostly understood by the American crowd and less from their European counterpart. May be something to improve. However, all the dancing performances were unexpected and they just were fabulous.
My wife attended the painting course, a nice gesture to newcomers, but less interesting for more advanced participants.
I followed one or two of the lectures given about the marine life of the Caribbean. However, there were much more to experience, but we just could not overcome it all - we were more than satisfied.
What are our recommendations: we were somehow disappointed about the shops. According to our taste too much jewellery, watches, etc. etc. and even all information about each harbor was primarily concerning jewellery shops.
We would very much like to buy some sports equipment, cloths, etc., but unfortunately no choices at all. They offered much to much 10$ items which were of no interest at all.
May be we found it unnecessary all the self praising at the end of the cruise. The staff did an outstanding job, and we highly appreciate their treatment of us, your customers and now ambassadors of your cruise company & ship.
We were impressed by the logistic of boarding & disembarking the ship. Everything was smooth-less and above all, friendly.
Our first cruise experience was on board of the Majesty of the Seas, many years ago, we found than that 6 or 7 days were much too short, while our 12 days trip now was much more to our liking. Most probably, as we are from Europe and we have to adjust to another 6 hrs.
We are looking forward to our next cruise.
