Cabin: Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

After being on the NCL Jewel cruise, I concur with others who criticized its food. Choices in main restaurants were limited and meals were far from being tasty. The buffet choices were not that great either, same choices day after day. Our cabin was very noisy. Noise from kids club located above this cabin was unbearable. At many times I was chased out from the cabin by noise from kids running and jumping above and practically could not use the balcony because of this noise. I complained to the desk service many times and had to call them every night around 10:30 PM reminding that it was quite late for all this banging up there. They offered to move us to a different cabin, but there was nothing suitable IMO. The cabin they offered would be below the buffet cafe. Many reviewers already mentioned the noise coming from food carts and moving chairs in cabins under that cafe. The bottom line is that I would not recommend staying on deck 11. The cabin was nice and balcony was larger in size, but all that noise ruined our vacation. Of course if you don't plan to be in your cabin from early morning till very late at night or heavy banging on the cabin ceiling and roof of your balcony would not bother you, then you may be OK with a cabin under the kids club.

The ship looked dated. Elevators were very slow and we often had to wait quite long time to get to other decks. I did not understand the policy of mandatory tips. For example, I was pleased with our cabin server, however, I can not understand how NCL plans to reward his good service over so so service by some others. In particular I was insulted by arrogance of their Internet manager. The fee for WiFi is outrageous. I wanted him to explain to me my options, instead he just pointed to the sign with their fees and did not bother talking to me.

NCL nickel and dimes you for everything once you are on the ship. They use every opportunity to sell you something. As an example, after massage session, I was bugged to buy their cosmetic product to the point of making me feel uncomfortable. It was easier for me to buy it, just to be done with it. I think the Spa staff has instructions, quotas or get incentive for sold stuff. Every opportunity is used to separate you from your money.
