Due to time limitations, we were not able to do a pre-cruise stay in San Juan. Instead, we taxied over to the ship directly from the San Juan airport. There is a set fare of $19 plus $1 for each piece of luggage. The trip took about 20 minutes. Since we are Platinum cruisers with Princess, we bypassed a fairly long line and went right up to the sign-in counter inside the embarkation area. There was a good-sized store right in the building where you could purchase beverages to take on board.
This review will cover the ship and its services and amenities. We chose to spend the majority of our time onboard so the review will not cover any of the 5 ports we visited.
We headed directly to our balcony cabin on the Caribe deck. For those who don't know, this deck has larger balconies than the other levels on the ship. The balcony holds 2 reclining type chairs, 2 standard chairs, and a good size bistro table. The balcony is partially covered by the Baja deck balconies above you.

Category BB aft balcony on Caribe deck.
The Caribe deck balconies on Princess are larger than the other balconies. They are partially covered from above and also look over part of the balconies below. This has never made us feel like our privacy was being invaded. The only negative about aft balconies on Caribe deck is that you sometimes feel and hear the vibration of the ship as it docks. This can be quite early in the morning and it is loud enough to wake you up. But if you're an early riser, aft balconies on Caribe deck can't be beat.
