Nice ship, better for groups/crowds, not so much for couples

Sail Date: November 2011
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Galveston

We were in our car at 7:50am! WHAT a breeze getting off the ship! Never faster!

It was wonderful to make it back to a CLEAN home. SO glad we wore ourselves out BEFORE we left, and returned with nothing to do but start a little laundry!

I'll breeze over our basic thoughts on the Magic...
-beautiful ship
-great cabin and room stewards
-good layout and means to get around
-hey, need more clocks! (there are schedules and events to get to!)
-better selections in the marketplace (buffet food)
-SERVICE in main dining room SEVERELY lacking
-FOOD in main dining has gone down DRASTICALLY
-Italian and Steakhouse... BEST food on board! Great service and experience. WOW. (we did the Italian TWICE!)

...this is no reflection on the ship itself, but we were very disappointed at how rude people have become. Talking loudly, yelling, daily OUTSIDE their rooms, as if no one else is around. People saving deck chairs and being gone for an hour, one More person saving 6 seats in theaters nightly. Walking up to an elevator jumping on before others waiting patiently before them. HUGE lines getting back on ship, where we waited patiently in a 100 ft long line, only to find a dozen people behind us when getting on... the others had moved ahead, blending in, cutting in line. Sadly there were little patience, manners, or hospitality being displayed. We wonder if it is a reflection on the region or carnival tolerating it. Oh, and tanktops and ballcaps in dining room and restaurant... NOT cool. (Blame Carnival for allowing this)

We missed a port, but for safety reasons, we can't complain. (However, TOO many days at sea does make one ansty)

Red Frog Pub: Hubby's favorite!!! GREAT addition
Piano Bar: Ron was awesome!
Vibe Lounge: Fun times
Shows: GREAT the end of cruise (Murder Mystery thing was a JOKE... oh my.)
Serenity Zone: AWESOME! Could be farther away from kids area however
Fitness Center: Great number of cardio machines (could use some fans for air)

We have friends who will not cruise Carnival again, but we felt we needed to try a newer ship. We're glad we did, but feel that maybe it's just a Carnival thing.... We won't be trying Carnival next time... time to see what else is out there.

Everyone has their own expectations and opinions. These are my own.
SUGGESTION to carnival: Make a non smoking ZONE... a side, couple of decks together (balcony's) Less

Cabin review: Carnival Magic Balcony Vista 9368

9368 Great room. Plenty of space for 2. Hear a little bit of moving chairs at 2-4am, but some crews were noisier than others... LOVED our room! Great location in middle. Close to middle elevators and stairs, just one flight up to pool, buffet, drink station... LOVED it. ps... safe is barely big enough for ipad...(got jammed on last night) will NOT fit a laptop. Would have been MAD if we'd taken a laptop!!!
