This was our first Norwegian Cruise. When we booked the Gem, people started telling us that we were not going to enjoy it. We were told the food was terrible, the service was just as bad. So with apprehension, we boarded. From the moment we stepped foot on the Gem, until the moment we stepped off we were treated regally!

We had priority embarkation. We were personally led through security from the dock through the ship to our room. We were greeted very warmly and we were introduced to our butler, Jaycee. We were told anything we needed to just call. We were given our own cell phone to contact our butler or the concierge. We also had priority disembarkment at ports and at the end of our cruise.

Priority Service A++

Cabin Review

Penthouse with Large Balcony

Cabin SE

Deck 10 Room 10002. Very nice room. Just a little smaller than we thought. Although the balcony is huge. The only drawback and you will read this comment again and again...the balcony is very, very windy. We are in the front of the ship with the navigation right above us. We enjoyed the balcony when we were at port. The room next to us, 10000, had a smaller balcony, but a larger room.

We loved the cappuchino machine...it made great espresso coffee. Their coffee of choice is Lavanza which is a very good espresso brand. The bathroom was adequate. It had a bathtub and the toilet was a little room next to the sink and vanity. Plenty of drawers and shelves in the bathroom. We had room service breakfast every morning which was really nice.

There are plenty of drawers although they are not very deep. We heard some guests remarking about this, but it wasn't a concern of ours. Plenty of closet space which opens on both sides. The room features a large flat screened TV with a DVD. We were also offered to use the DVD library.

The toiletries were very good. Large thick, soft towels and plenty of them were changed a few times a day. We had a small love seat adjacent to our king sized bed which opened us to a single bed. Very nice. We loved this room category!!

The bed was so comfortable and I usually have a hard time falling asleep! We both slept soundly!

I would give this room an A!
