We booked this cruise based on the itinerary advertised,are first glimpse was of Langton dock what a sight not an ideal place to cruise from,embarkation staff very friendly and informative, a credit to Liverpool docks and the ship.
The ship looked her age that was our first disappointment, but once on board we found her to be clean and tidy, we made our way to our cabin it was very warm the air con didn,t work but the cabin was clean ,the shower was not very inviting although it was clean.
We then went for a look around the ship it was ok it wasn,t luxury by any standard but, as we were only going to sleep on this ship it was deemed it,ll do.
We knew the weather was bad but as we were allowed to embark we thought everything was ok, It was only when we were due to sail we were told the weather was stopping us from sailing, so we went to have a meal we didn,t use the restaurant as we didn,t like being told were we had to sit so we ate in the cafe at the back of the ship.
We later went up to the lounge and sat watching the Irish cargo ferry coming in and out, then the booming voice of the Captain came over the loud speaker to inform us we would be sailing at 02.00 for our first stop in Scotland, we went to bed happy.
Our happiness soon turned, when we left our cabin next morning to find we were still in Liverpool,then that booming voice again (we got to dread that voice)this time it announced we would NOT be going to Scotland but instead have a day out in Liverpool, not a good choice as we were born in Liverpool.
The food was good so we went and had something to eat and waited for the dreaded booming voice of doom, when it came it shocked us to the core, they had decided Scotland was out ,Guernsey was out, and The Isle of Scilly was out, instead we were going to Dublin, then Foley, then three nights in France on a two night over stay, with no other offer take it or leave it, that was their mistake,we left the ship at this point and came home bitterly disappointed.
My son contacted Which Legal and they told him he was right to leave the ship as they had completely changed the itinerary and they should of offered us our money back or another suitable cruise and write to them and give them 28 days to answer our complaint.
Cruise and Maritime decided to ignore our letter, that is against ABTA rules,it is also against ABTA rules 12/14 in the way they treated us.
They left us no alternative but to issue proceedings in the County Court for a full refund plus Â£200.00 compensation, they didn,t ignore the Court and sent us a full refund plus the Â£200.00 3 days later
We would not recommend this cruise to anyone at that time of the year as further investigations by us found this ship has never completed this itinerary Don,t waste your money but be prepared to fight for your rights
