first the good >>> absolutely beautiful clean ship, looks brand new
very lovely....beautiful purple theater, the zebra room is a real treat for the eyes, not annoying, actually quite stunning....all in all a very very pretty ship
Cabin was great..had a balcony...lovely decor, great room steward "Made"
The service was mostly good....English was not a problem
I found the workers friendly and very polite, they seem to be mostly Indonesian, a little more "reserved" than other lines but all in all great
LOVED the drink packages and prices...bought 12 drinks for price of 10, they give you coupons...very easy to use and accepted everywhere with NO problem, could get most any drink, pina colada, mojito
the price was fantastic...with tax it was 79.95 for 12 drinks....that included the 15% tip. Drinks were simply cheaper than on other cruise lines...they also had specials and 2 for one and other deals...very very affordable. I really liked that
The spa was fantastic...I hear they charge for it in Europe but it is free (for now at least LOL) in USA sailings. It had 3 large hot whirlpools...lovely sauna...rich thick towels, "Bali" decor...just great
The whole ship is very beautiful and very clean, nice loungers with a "face shade" thing you can adjust..nice touch. They give out pool towels and it is really nice pool area. No chair hog problems
Now for the Mediocre : the food is just fair
Breakfast is fine IMHO, both at the crowded Buffet and in the Dining room
The layout is bad, small lukewarm poured glasses of juice,
sort of a jam up at the coffee machines.
The tile floor and hard surfaces make it very noisy and crowded
Lots of people milling about.
Tip : go to the back area for more space, same items repeated in more lines
but less crowded
Lunch is a joke IMHO>> pizza is tasteless with a soggy crust. Lines bad and
not logical layout. I get tired of people saying this is "European" style food
If this is "European" I can see why so many left there and came here haha
Horrible...tons of mayo on salads and creations that looked like leftovers.
Jello Jello ...tasteless desserts. They had some Indonesean Stir Fry that LOOKED good but was also tasteless. Everything very bland and lots of leftovers/mystery meat dishes. Ugh
Dinner service was slow and yet rushed, pretty bad...the food was just blah.
By the last night we learned to order lots of items, mix and match.
A few good dishes....a cold seafood salad was excellent, some of the pasta
was pretty good. The Baba ah Rum cake the last night was the best dessert
Food is not a highlight here IMHO.
Now for the horrible
Room service is limited and could make you gag...horrid wonder bread sandwich with pink mayo paste, state chips..."shrimp salad sandwich".
dry pale brown "cake" with gooey lardy frosting posing as a "brownie"
YUCK...they should be ashamed
The "staff" (temp workers>?) in Fort Lauderdale is rude and clueless
They have no idea what they are talking about
Misinformation and rude people on the phone
Many of the "policies" of MSC are out of line with other cruiselines
The website is a joke and on line check in a mess for many people
unless they have a passport. I have a passport but my cabin mate did not
and one of the clueless in Ft Lauderdale office actually told her that
"You NEED a passport"....
ummm...in fact their joke website was set up for that until I wasted hours
of my life on the phone with the rude staff
One of them in "customer service" told me "Thats not my problem" ...unreal
No one could give accurate info about boarding or anything...and boarding was
a horror...long lines, hot and tiring, barren warehouse, and tons of rude and clueless people.
MSC COULD be really good choice...but the hassles and the mediocre food make me happy that my next cruises are on Royal and Carnival. Ciao MSC
