We sailed on the Ruby Princess in Europe the summer of 2010 as a family and had a wonderful time.
On 9/25/11 I booked a romantic cruise for just my wife and I. We invited another couple to join us on the cruise from Vancouver to San Pedro California on-board the Golden Princess to see if they like sailing.
The trip started off poorly as it took almost four hours to board the ship as we were left with no food or water and running from building to building in the rain trying to board.. The trip went down hill from there..
We were not treated as guest, but more as a bother by most of the crew.. The buffets left a lot to be desired, not much selection and not much food, so they ran out of the main courses quickly..
We tried the restaurants and they were not much better. The service was slow and the food was cold when it was finally served. It took forever to eat, so we missed the evening shows because of it.
When we disembarked we filled out a survey from Princess on how they did and did get a call from Princess rep Victoria. She was very pleasant and took down the info, but told us she had no authority to do anything about it and it would have to go to corporate for review.
We have since found out Victoria never turned it over to corporate, but closed the case blaming the port authorities for the poor service ?
We had an Alaskan trip booked with Princess for the summer of 2012 and we have canceled that.
We have never received a letter from Princess to apologize for the horrible trip and have decided to never cruise with Princess again.
