We live just 45 minutes from Port Canaveral and cruise from there often. I always tell people that it is the greatest port to cruise from. This time there were mishaps at embarkation.
The Ecstasy was late arriving form New Orleans because of high winds and waves rounding the Cape of Florida. Carnival did keep me updated with calls and we new to arrive at the port at about 3:30. The major problems with embarkation was that the terminal was switched from Carnivals normal terminal 5 to a little used old gambling boat dock at terminal 3. This was the ports fault and not Carnivals.
We used the new park 'n Cruise for parking and it was great. We were directed to an area south of our terminal to unload our luggage. It was in the middle of a parking lot. We were then dropped off at seldom used south cargo ports terminal 4 to wait for our ship to come in.
The Ecstasy came in at 5:30. we waited for the pax at terminal 3 to board then we were transported to terminal 3 where we stood in line for about 1.5 hours. We finally boarded at 7:30 and everything after that was great.
They opened all the eating venues for us and had open seating in both dining rooms until everyone was served.
The ship is wonderful for her age. I love the Fantasy class ships and have been on the Inspiration and Fantasy. This ship was well cared for, clean, and had a fantastically friendly and hard working staff. I am diabetic and our cabin steward keep m cooler full of ice for my insulin and gave me a Sharps Contianer.
We enjoyed the main dining room, buffet, Punchline Comedy Club, casino, and some shows. All the entertainment was very good! Half Moon Cay was wonderful. We went on the Stingray snorkel there and it was great. Great food on the island and plenty of chairs to lay out on. Walked a lot!
Our ports were good and debarkation was fine.
Great trip, Great ship. . . great Carnival! Port Canaveral is lucky to have you, just fix the embarkation terminal to the west end.
