We live in Central Florida so it was an easy drive to Port Canaveral. I am 68 and my husband is 69 years old but we are young at heart.
Embarkation was very smooth. No waiting line and top notch staffing to answer any questions we had.
This is our 3rd cruise aboard the Carnival Ecstasy - 1992, 1997 and now 2011. We were very pleased at the cleanliness of the ship - very well maintained, in our opinion.
The balcony cabins that were added during renovations seem small. Our cabin had two bunk beds that surprisingly took up several square feet. We asked our cabin steward to split our bed and put one against one wall the other bed against the other wall so we had more space in the middle of the cabin to walk to our balcony. However, both my husband and I hit our heads against the support/frame of the bunk beds. The frame has a shelf that would support the bed if it were lowered and even when my husband rolled over during the night he hit his head. The original staterooms with windows do not have this same configuration for the bunk beds. We did not need a stateroom for four people and did not notice the bunk beds when we booked our room. We will pay more attention in the future.
