Ship Facts: Norwegian Star Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Norwegian Star Deck Plans
NCL Star Western Carribean 11/13/11-11/20/11
My Girlfriend and I had never been on a cruise before so we were very excited about our first cruise and first long vacation together. We had heard so many great things about NCL which is why we booked our Caribbean vacation on NCL. We were on the tenth deck of the ship forward half.

Over all we had a great time on our NCL excursions. However, we will never visit Belize again, the city is a s**thole. The Altun Ha ruins were interesting but that's about all I can say about Belize. The Belize river tour was complete waste of time. If I wanted to look at a lizard and a few birds I could have just visited a pet store since that's all we saw on our never ending boat tour.

Roatan and Tabyana Beach was beautiful and we cant wait to go back (Order the Tabyana Mama drink and get a massage). Costa Maya and the 4 wheeler tour of the jungle and beach were fun, and Cozumel and the Playa Mia Beach were also great and beautiful not to mention the great Mexican food buffet and open bar.

The room was good, and the service overall was good. Our concierge Patrick was polite and he got us whatever we needed or wanted. We enjoyed the towel animals and free bottles of wine we received from the casino every night. We had VIP status so we got a few extras like 3 free dinners in a restaurant and breakfast everyday of our choice, extra food in our stateroom, skipped many lines, had window seats in all our restaurants, and of course free drinks when we gambled in the casino. (Although sometimes it was just easier going to the bar to get a drink then to sit and wait for someone to come over and ask if you needed a one).

Now let me say before I continue that we have heard from so many people and read many reviews on how the food on NCL is the best in the business, so our hopes were high when boarded to eat delicious food. The restaurant service overall was good, but the food was down right horrible in all of the restaurants and two dining rooms. Do not get the fish in chips at the blue lagoon unless you want a fishy smelling, salty piece of Mcdonalds processed chicken nugget mystery meat. One bite and we pushed it away and walked out. The chicken wings we ordered mild and burned our lips off. Steaks at the steakhouse were like leather ( even ordered medium rare). The pasta at the Italian restaurant was down right chewy to crunchy. The best meal we had on the boat was the cookouts by the pool although its hit or miss. The rolls and buns were stale and in one instance hard as a rock overall food here was ok. Le Bistro was decent. Aqua and Versailles was just a huge disappointment. Service in the main dining rooms was very slow. I'm not trying to scare anyone away, but just warning you. Our best meal of the entire trip was at a Burger King in Cozumel, no lie.

The atmosphere was great and the shows were entertaining and we enjoyed them. The pool, and the bars were fun and the Spinnaker lounge is the place to be if your into drinking, dancing, and having fun (Jello Shots!!). Oh and visit Big Al at the Red Lion, great bar tender and just a great individual. We overall enjoyed our vacation and had a great time in the Caribbean and the night life on the boat. But it will take sometime before we brave the food on the star again.
