Having recently spent 19 nights aboard Cunard's Queen Elizabeth on its Holy-land cruise I cannot express how bitterly disappointed I felt at the considerable drop in general standards. I have had wonderful times in the past on the Queen Mary 2 enjoying exemplary service, a very high standard of food and entertainment worthy of the West End. Service on Queen Elizabeth is not up to par. I do not expect the maitre D to vaguely point at my allotted dining table nor to be surly if a complaint is made.
The quality of the food has dropped considerably and it is almost impossible to get a decent steak cooked as one asks. The descriptions on the menu are wonderful; the execution bore no resemblance. "Irish Stew" with no carrots, cabbage or barley? " It's a different recipe"?
UHT milk in the morning tea unless you complain. Why does one have to pay for ordinary coffee if you want it anywhere other than the queens lounge or self-service Lido? Doesn't £17,500 per person cover this extravagance?
Q1 suites cannot be faulted. A little 'bumpy' in rough seas at the stern. Very expensive!
