Eastern Caribbean fun on NCL Sun

Sail Date: November 2011
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Port Canaveral (Orlando)

Friendly, usually attentive, smiling staff; decent food with lots of options; clean facilities, attentive room steward; excellent service and food in LeBistro; as-needed updates from Captain regarding weather conditions and impacts; wide variety of entertainment and activities, all for less than would have spent elsewhere.
We booked on the edge of hurricane season for better pricing. Weather was a bit rough making it hard for some, but we were comfortable. An excursion was cancelled but we were quickly informed and offered money back or an alternative excursion, which we enjoyed at Megan's Bay in St. Thomas!
We saw rough water at Great Stirrup Cay but chose to go in, recognizing the tender ride would be bumpy. It was like being at an amusement park, lots of up/down as would be expected when you looked at the wave action on the water! Once on the island, we enjoyed a quick swim, the barbecue and scenery.
Except for some spillover smoke into the atrium from the casino and More the commonly noted buffet layout problem, no complaints.
By the way, at each meal we saw at least 10 different types of bread, vegetables, meat, fruit, dessert, etc, allowing us to select something different for every meal providing lots of variety.
All in all, very happy cruisers. We will be returning. Less

Cabin review: B1 Aft-Facing Balcony

We were in a deck 9 aft side balcony near the very back. Pleasant room, mostly quiet with some awareness of engine noise. Firm but comfortable bed, only used half of the generous storage. Enjoyed using the robes provided. Loved views from the balcony. Would stay in this area again.

One visit was enough for us, but was worthwhile. Walked up the Queen's Staircase for beautiful views. Worth seeing how it is carved out. Otherwise, mostly walked around the waterfront touristy parts for typical stalls, trinkets, etc. Picked up some delicious Tortuga rum.

Enjoyed arriving early and walked up the hill to the Forts, then around and back down the other side along cobblestone streets, shops, etc. Took us about two hours. It is humbling to read the markers on the fortress grounds. Beautiful views all around. Interesting to stroll down a residential cobble street with 1 or 2 cats stretched comfortably on every doorstep. We were glad to finish early since the heat/humidity and a drizzle were lining up for the rest of the day. Another trip back would be good.

Originally booked for St.John's Bay, but weather cancelled that. Given a refund, which we used to book Megan's Bay (through NCL). Nice beach, pretty water, lots of families. Too much wave action for snorkeling, but fine for swimming. Enjoyed the iguanas and scenery. Driver John was extraordinarily polite and conscientious. Upon our return, he made sure he had all visitors he took to the beach, then made a special stop for great pictures of ships from high point. Ready to return to St. Thomas.
