I decided to treat myself and went alone on this cruise. This is the second time I have gone solo on a cruise, and the second time I was on the Pearl. The other time on the Pearl was "fancier"; last time I was in 14008 with my daughter so we each had a bedroom and a bathroom, plus an excellent butler, staff and all the trimmings. I really missed my coffee pot!

This time I decided that a window cabin would be sufficient; it was, but I missed my balcony. Next time, even if I go by myself, I would get a balcony cabin at least. But my room was more than adequate. The bed and bedding were terrific; very comfortable and plush. There was plenty of closet and storage space; it would have been sufficient for two. Bath was a little small, but that is to be expected. Ryan Waty was my cabin steward and he was excellent. Friendly, available, respectful, and kept my cabin spotless.

Embarkation: This went very smoothly for me. I was dropped off at the pier a little early, at 11:30 a.m., so there was basically no wait. I was all signed in and on the ship within 30 minutes. I was already "dressed" for the weather, so only had to carry around one mesh bag. The other two bags were on their way to my cabin. I had lunch at the Garden Cafe, took it to the outside deck and enjoyed the sunshine while I ate. I watched a little of the Pittsburgh Steeler game, and then my cabin was ready. My bags arrived by 4, so I unpacked and went to watch the "sail away". I did notice that around 1 p.m. there was a huge line waiting to get to the sign-in area. Am glad I went a little early!!
