Gorgeous

Sail Date: November 2011
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: San Juan

We sailed out of San Juan on the Victory. The ship itself was very nice and the majority of the staff was very friendly. Ports of call were amazing and we had a great time just visiting the beaches at each one.

We did one shore excursion during the week which was the Shipwreck Snorkeling and Beach Party in Barbados. While it was a good time, it was certainly less than expected. The shipwreck is a boat (small) that sunk about 60 feet off the beach and they take you out there to snorkel for 30 minutes and the fish variety are few. (Don't let them charge you the extra $5 to go have the turtle experience because it is less than 25 feet away from the shore line and you could swim over there yourself. Luckily, we did not do this.) In Barbados we were constantly hounded by locals trying to sell things.

Our cabin was directly below the Lido deck (I saw another poster in this thread who stayed in the exact cabin we did a couple of months ago) and it could not have been More noisier. All day and all night there were chairs scraping. Back and forth, back and forth. It was absolutely miserable. Do not stay in this part of the ship!!

The staff: we loved our waiters in the dining room. They were amazing. The staff in the Mediterranean restaurant where the buffet was cannot be described as amazing. There were so many staff members that they just got in your way. And they did not make any effort to move. The passengers were expected to move or get run over. Any time you walked through that area you could count on having to side step staff standing in the middle of the walkway. Our cabin steward did a good job, but the hallways always had staff members in them. Just standing there. And there was always something piled in the hallway like towels or sheets or the cleaning carts or something. It was just crowded.

The ship was certainly not full for this cruise, and the staff seemed to be way too many as they were constantly in the way.

The trip was amazing and we loved the places we went, but if we were to do it again we would do it a little differently. The main thing being the location of our cabin!! Less

Too noisy. Absolutely miserable. Got no sleep the entire week because of the constant scraping of chairs across the deck above us. Horrible location.

Port and Shore Excursions

Skip it. The snorkeling is pathetic. The rum punch they served was excellent, though. Locals on the beach drove us crazy trying to sell us stuff.

Really pretty place. Went to a bar and grill on the beach called Shipwreck Bar and Grill (Caribbean side). We snorkeled there ($5 each for all day rental of snorkel gear). Tons of reef with beautiful fish.

We went to a beach in Rodney's Bay. While it was gorgeous, we were constantly hounded by locals. Not to mention that it cost us $50 round trip in a taxi to get there.

Took a taxi to Little Bay ($4 each person, each way). Beautiful resort there, not at all crowded, only two locals approached us and tried to sell anything and they went away quickly when we said no thanks.

Magens Bay. It is gorgeous and a must see.
