Awesome Equinox

Sail Date: November 2011
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Other

Just back from our cruise on board the beautiful celebrity Equinox.
Having previously been on the celebrity eclipse, we kind of knew what to expect. Certainly the decor was similar, the layout was similar the restaurants & bars were similar. The difference was the staff. The equinox is the friendliest ship we have been on. The service we received was second to none.

The food was excellent. We love eating in the speciality restaurants and were not disappointed. Tuscan grill was as good as ever, Murano was as elegant as usual and bistro on 5 was delicious as usual. The only negative we had was that silk harvest is not as good as q-sine on the eclipse ( our opinion only)
We only ate in the silhouette restaurant for 2 nights as we prefer the smaller intimate restaurants on board. Despite this the service was great and the food was delicious.

The bars were quiet on this cruise compared to what we are used to. This was a benefit to us as it meant we could sit at More the martini bar every time rather than struggling to get near the bar like previous cruises. The 3 guys on the bar Arief, Bulent & Hector are amazing to watch and great to talk to. We have already had correspondence with them since returning home. ( it is nice to know that they actually can bond friendships with us)
The other bars were excellent too. The ensemble lounge had good entertainment on every night and michaels club was nice for a quiet drink.

The drinks package is a fantastic thing. We had the premium package and certainly got value from it. If it is true that you have to drink 6 drinks per day to get value, then the package certainly encouraged us to do just that. ( we were on holiday )

To summarise.
If anyone is reading this before deciding to book an Equinox cruise the I would say that you will 100% love it

This was the best cruise we have ever been on and will definitely go back on this beautiful ship. Less

Cabin review: Celebrity Equinox Deluxe Ocean View W/ Veranda Continental Deck (6)

Cabin 8123 was fantastic. This is the first time we never went aqua class. The cabin is pretty much the same. Comfortable bed, large veranda great views. Would request this cabin again.

Port and Shore Excursions

We didn't really like Athens. We walked into the centre and took a bus tour in the city. It is a huge bustling city. To me it was like any other big busy city. If you want to see all the historic sites then go on a ship excursion. The feedback from fellow guests was very good. If you have no interest in seeing historic places then stay on the ship and take advantages of reduced spa packages and a quiet pool deck.

We did our own thing in Crete. We took the shuttle bus from the port to the town. It is a beautiful place with nice shopping and a great water side area to have drinks and/or lunch. It is a nice port for a relaxing day.

Istanbul is a crazy amazing place. We tried to get the tram but had no change for the machine. After passing the most pushy taxi drivers in the world we took the celebrity shuttle bus into town. Although it was $15 each it was worth it. The grand bazaar is crazy. Do not be intimidated by it. Once you get used to it it is a fascinating place. The blue mosque is amazing. We went to a Turkish dinner show in the evening. It was really good and entertaining.

Awesome place. Lots of history and less intimidating shopping than Istanbul.
