Let me start with Embark on Sunday. It was ridiculous, hard to understand that Carnival cannot think of a better way to get everyone on board. We arrived at the port at 12:30 and was told to stand in this line, we did this for 1 hour, and then when we asked a Carnival employee if we were in the right line, he exclaimed " What are you doing in this line?" just plain silly, that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Then moved to another line for an hour. Finally on board with drink at 3 pm. Lido lunch was really not ready for us either, hamburgers yes, fixings for those hamburgers? NO. Very crowded, no place to sit, so we decided to head to our cabin.
The cabin was very nice, as was the balcony. All luggage fit under the bed, and there was plenty of storage. The bathroom was well appointed and a good size. Our bed was very uncomfortable and in need of a mattress replacement. Did not get time to unwind because muster was announced shortly after we arrived in our cabin. Again this was poorly orchestrated, with absolutely no regard for the passenger. We stood out there for a very long time before hearing any instruction, and again after the instruction, with no explanation as to what was the problem. Very irritating to be spoken to like a child by these Carnival employees barking orders _ get in line - shoulder to shoulder - single file, move this way, move that way etc.
Finally off to discover the ship!! What a beautiful ship it is, very clean and well maintained. And the stewards, bartenders, waiters, etc. were all especially nice. I found dinner in the MDR to be rather slow, and the food average. The breakfast buffet was a huge disappointment. We went to the Gold Pearl for breakfast after that first morning. The Rotisserie was good for lunch as was the burrito bar! We never went hungry. Disembark was a repeat of embark (nightmare) (LOL) walked off at 12:00. All in all, it was a wonderful week, and we would book this cruise again.
