This was our third cruise, and second on Carnival.
Cruise began a day late due to storm related delays as the ship was coming from the Bahamas. Carnival only reduces the price by 1/7 with no allowance for the hotel, meals, rental car, and other expenses incurred for the extra day at the port city.
The crew was obviously stressed and fatigued by the previous bad weather and this continued with a very rough ride to Bermuda. The AC was broken in our room and it was too nasty outside (40 mph winds) to have the balcony door open. Somehow a heavy dose of cigarette odor was also being pumped into our cabin and hallway - likely due to some type of ventilation issue. Luckily after a day and a half our very friendly room stewardess was able to get maintenance to repair the AC and the odor was gone also.
Sadly our original 2.5 days in Bermuda was cut to 20 hours as they left Baltimore late and left Bermuda early to avoid more bad weather. Only about 6 hours of the 20 was usable daylight time for touring the island.
Carnival has changed their evening meals and not for the better. Compared to a previous cruise 2 yrs ago, it's a big step down. Of five meals, I'd rate only one above fair. And the portions are shrunken. It appears they are trying to drive everybody to the premium steakhouse @ 30 bucks extra / meal. We tried that one evening and it was excellent.
The breakfast and lunch buffets were pretty good, although not as good as I remembered from previous cruises. We tried the sit down for lunch one day and the service was incredibly slow. Took an hour and 15 minutes for a sandwich.
There were two excellent comedians on this trip, Roman Murray and Percy Cruz.
The musical show was probably on par with a high school production, but given the rocky ride, they were hanging on for dear life. One show was completely cancelled due to technical problems. The cruise director appeared like a guy who lost his job selling cars at a "buy here, pay here" lot and tried something else.
This was the first time we didn't get a customer satisfaction survey at the end of a cruise. I'm thinking Carnival already knew what the answer was.
In summary, Carnival probably should have cancelled this trip or re-routed to a different location avoid the weather. I'm also quite disappointed in their current dining room fare.
