To all who read these to determine which ship/itinerary to take...Please don't let those who give one star and complain about everything shake your confidence. Either nothing will make them happy or they are impossible to please. In 13 cruises I could never give less than 3.5 stars to any.
So lets start.
The journey started with a snow storm heading for NY on the day we were to leave. Closing airports and stranding many. Fortunately we made it in from Buffalo and were boarded by 11:30am. We ended up staying in port because of the weather and many who did not make the ship in time. We seen them taking passengers in at 9Pm. So we missed P.Rico. Some were unhappy but stuff happens.
Our room was an obstructed view but really not bad at all. E215 with just the top of the life boat slightly in our view. Was a slight upgrade from guarranteed cat G.
After we got out of the colder weather (second day) the cruise was just slightly choppy till the third day. After that we had More
considerably better weather. Our room steward, Melanie was sooo pleasant and nice. Always smiling and went out of her way to say hello every day. We asked for fresh wine glasses for the room every day which earned her a little extra and she delivered like clock work. Asked once and never had to again. Really liked her.
This was our second time on the Caribbean Princess but this time it had been upgraded to include the International Cafe, Vines and Vine gift shop. Needless to say Vines is our favorite spot on the ship. Many nice wines and priced as in any restaurant. Although we carried on a few bottles it was nice to purchase and enjoy the tapas, cheese and sushi offered no charge with a wine purchase. We actually spent dinner time at Vines on a few occasions. Florian and Mahesh were very friendly. And Caroline at the Vines boutique was really nice, pleasant, smiling and always had something to talk about.
Food on board is always subjective. Preface.. not everything is great but try feeding 3500 people some day. So not expecting 5 star meals we were pleasantly surprised at how good everything was, even in the Horizon and Caribbe Cafe. We had dinner once up top as it was German and the food was restaurant quality. Again not 5 star but very good. My only bad meal was at Sabatini's. Every thing they served before and after the main course was great and my wife's was also. I ordered the Striped Bass which was dry and fishy. So no big deal would not order it again. Do not confuse it with the Sea Bass they serve in the Crown. It is EXCELLENT, actually right at the top, almost the best I have ever had anywhere. And if you have a steak at the Crown definitely get the Rib eye, it was better than the fillet. Breakfast and lunch we could always find something we liked and did I mention the bread and rolls? (wife's weakness). Did I mention the deserts? (my weakness) both excellent as always on Princess.
Entertainment on board was slightly lacking. They did have a few nice acts, groups, funny men etc. But for a ten day cruise you would like something maybe different or out of the ordinary. The two parties they threw, one outside and one inside, were well attended and fun. Like New Years eve parties, dancing singing, streamers and poppers. Fun for All. They did have many good new movies to watch in theater on tv and at MUTS which took up the slack time. My wife did enjoy that.
So overall we had a nice relaxing time. The crew was pleasant, friendly and smiling, as always. Food very acceptable to very good. Room comfy and ship very clean. I give this cruise 4 stars. Less

E215-Obstructed View. Do not be afraid of this. Hardly obstructed. Only the top of the life boat is in view. When laying on the bed you see nothing but sky. Room was very quiet. Short walk when going down to the promenade, restaurants or atrium, slightly longer walk when going up to the pool or Horizon.
