Honestly we were a little leery about a cruise on this mammoth ship....we love smaller ships, i.e. the personal attention, easy embarkation at all ports, the opportunity to meet new people, uncluttered elevators..etc. We were pleasantly surprised by the Oasis. Embarkation at Ft. Lauderdale was the easiest and quickest we've ever experienced and the cruise got just better and better from that point on. The highlight of our trip was travelling over the halloween holiday....the festivities on this ship were unbelievable! We were strolling around late at night before Halloween and came across the ship's crew decorating the Promenade deck with loads of decorations...not just crepe paper streamers, but tons of cobwebs, a large blown-up haunted house, life-size ghosts and skeletons...you name it, they had it! They spent many, many hours decorating for the passengers and we thank all of you for a terrific job. We just wish we had brought costumes with us...most of the passengers had fabulous costumes with them and the party was wonderful. Some passengers even decorated their cabin doors with halloween decorations and the children on-board trick-or-treated at those cabins -- many passengers told us they booked a year in advance for this cruise and were well-prepared.

The shows on this ship were unbelievable -- Hair Spray rivaled the Broadway show....the Aqua show had our jaws dropping....and the Ice Show was absolute beauty on ice.

With regard to the food...The room service menu was just so-so, especially the breakfast...we ended up only ordering coffee and juice in the morning. We only went to the dining room 2 nights and the food was fine...nothing to brag about...but fine. It almost seemed like the cruise line wanted everyone to go to the specialty restaurants at hefty prices to get a better dining experience. We feel the food should be included in the price of the cruise and declined the specialty restaurants. We loved the Park Cafe for a great roast beef sandwich and salads. Late night snacking is available but the buffet area (the Windjammer) is closed...only open during a few hours of breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was so-so in the Windjammer but the service was excellent and we enjoyed the beautiful views!
