Fantastic first time cruise experience

Sail Date: October 2011
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Other

Had great week on RCCL Navigator from Rome. Had booked flights and transfers with RCCL and everything went very smoothly (slight delay on way home). We were family of 6 in a family oceanview and it was fine, just really somewhere to sleep with the added bonus of a fantastic view.

For our needs, Navigator was a great ship. I agree with other reviews on the friendly staff, great food, plentiful activities, fantastic entertainment. Our teenagers disappeared every day to meet with friends, even staying on board during our last stop in Chania. We had arranged private tours in Ephesus and Athens and our drivers/guides were great.

We ate mostly in the Windjammer rather than the main dining room as self-service suited us. At breakfast and lunch the Windjammer is very busy and it can be difficult to find a seat, but in the evening it is quite relaxed.

Our cabin steward was very helpful and attentive as he had to make up the sofa bed and then stow it away again More every day. Staff never passed you without saying hello. Entertainment was first class with "Beatles", "Il Divo", cabaret, mime, ice-skating and lots more. All in all a great holiday and highly recommended. Less

Cabin review: Navigator of the Seas Family Oceanview Stateroom Deck 6 8200

Large family cabin, good closet space, adequate seating, quiet location, great view, far from dining room.

Port and Shore Excursions

Port has 2 terminals and on leaving the ship at terminal b we had to transfer by bus to terminal a where our private guide was waiting for us. No problems.

Hadn't organised anything. Thought we could have walked to Chania old town, but it was too far. There is a local bus waiting at the dock which takes you there in 15 mins for a few euro. Chania harbour was lovely and the old town is really nice to walk around. The market was fun. No problems getting bus back to the ship.

We had booked private tour of Ephesus and were met by our guide as soon as we left the ship. We spent the day in Athens and had a look around the shops in Kusadasi before returning to the ship.
