The entertainment onboard was top notch and we attended many shows. The band was incredible and we went to several of the venues just to listen to them. They did a great job for the live karaoke even though several of the guest participants couldn't carry a tune (hey, they tried). We went to the Motown evening with Jerome who had just joined the ship in Cozumel just hours earlier and he did a fantastic job with virtually no rehearsal time with the band. We bought his CD as well. We will try to pick up his show the next time we are in Vegas. Wee Jimmy did a fantastic job with the marriage show and we are still talking about how funny that was. He also put his unique spin on the bingo game as well. Wee Jimmy was very fortunate to have such an incredible assistant cruise director (Megan). I hope that she can get her own ship as a CD. The two of them worked so well together and did a great job running the deck party and shore excursion days (even with all of the weather cancellations). The entertainment staffs supported them well and were eager to do their collateral jobs (safety drill, etc).
Since we have never been to any of the ports before, we utilized Carnival in getting the excursions for us in Cozumel and Grand Cayman.
In Cozumel, we did the Playa Mia Beach deluxe tour. Our son swam in the ocean for the first time and I took him out in a paddle boat. The included food and drinks were great.
In Belize, we took the tender ashore and only walked around the port area and did some shopping and had lunch at the Wet Lizard and had some Belizian beer (Belikin). The people outside the port area were very persistent in trying to get us to take private tours which we declined.
In Roatan, we went to the private beach and had lunch delivered to our beach chairs at the water. We tried the local beer (Salva Vida). We did not use the chair lift to the beach and walked the paved walkway to the beach. The water was very warm and clear.
In Grand Cayman, we encountered a lot of rain and several excursions were canceled. We had the Grand Cayman by Land and Sea tour which did go on. That consisted of a semi submersible "sub" and a land tour of the western side of the island. We made stops at the turtle farm, Hell, and a rum factory.
The last sea day was extremely windy and rainy which meant that we could not go out on the weather decks. That was no problem as there is so much to do on a cruise ship and the entertainment staff had many different activities.
We tried the Carnival beer at the sports bar, Thirsty Frog Red. All I can say is Wow. Can't wait to go on another cruise with the Red Frog pubs. We also tried several of the drinks of the day. Yellow Bird was great as well as the Mixology contest winner's Pineapple Upside Down Cake.
I cannot say enough great things about the ship, how we were treated, and the ports and activities. We made many friends on this we cannot wipe the smile off our son's face. He did many new things as well as doing activities that he previously had shunned. We will definitely be back on this ship again.
