Our cruise aboard the Carnival Dream was interesting to say the least. We were scheduled to do the Western Itinerary, but was changed to the East due to Hurricane Rina. The wife & I were slightly disappointed due to the fact that the last time we scheduled this same cruise it was cancelled also due to the swine flu. We boarded the ship with no trouble what so ever. Once aboard we had lunch in the buffet. I had Mongolian Wok (outstanding) and the wife had the pasta bar. She had no complaints either. We just cruised the ship until out cabin was ready @ 1:30. We were in cabin 12214 (Cloud 9 Spa)The cabin was very nice except for the fact that the 14th deck can look directly down onto your balcony. You have NO privacy on your balcony at all. We had use of all of the cloud 9 spa amenities and used them regularly. They were very nice and very relaxing. We both had total body massages and were very happy, except for the pressure to buy the spa products when the treatment was finished. The Thalasso pool, steam rooms, etc. were great. The entertainment on board was awesome some nights and mediocre some nights.Halloween night was a lot of fun. The food in the dining room was very good and the buffet was as good as it has always been. This was the first time we have been in a cabin in the forward section of the ship and that high up. Not sure we will do that again. LOTS of movement up there. But the seas weren't very calm either, so you never know. We stopped in Nassau and it has not changed at all. Our next stop was in St.Thomas,USVIwe took a ferry to St.John,USVI (AWESOME) Trunk Bay was totally beautiful. Our third stop was St.Marten. No change there from a few yrs back when we were there the first time. We did the Golden Eagle Catamaran sail and snorkel tour. We sorta sailed and never snorkeled due to wind and high waves. But we did get to swim once the captain found a calm beach. On the ride back to the port, the rum punch was free flowing and the lunch was tolerable. Not real sure the tour was worth $160.00 for the 2 of us. But we had fun so that's all that matters. After the tour we shopped for a while before returning to the ship. On our first sea night on the way back we had to veer off course to calmer waters so a crew member could be air lifted off the ship by the US Coast Guard, after having a heart attack. He was 39 yrs old.Last report was he was in stable condition. The airlift was an awesome the to witness,Great JOB by the Coast Guard. The second sea night we had to make and emergency stop back in Nassau so a fellow passenger could be taken ashore due to a heart attack also. Last report he/she was in stable condition also. The last night was very rough seas, all kinds of noises, creaking, cracking and LOTS of movement again..Thank GOD for Bonine!! Other than the things fore mentioned. A Good time was had by all. At least we didn't have to cook, clean or go to work !!!!
Can't wait to schedule another trip !!
