We sailed out of Barcelona on 22nd Oct, and after reading some of the previous reviews we were rather apprehensive....but we shouldn't have been ! Yes, the ship it 10 years old - you know that before you go, if you want modern sail on a newer ship ! She was well kept and spotlessly clean and was constantly being cleaned, we even saw the staff steam cleaning the walls. She has a nice 'older' feel about her, which we haven't experienced before but thoroughly enjoyed. Ok, the shows were not as 'glitzy' as on the Independence of the Seas or celebrity Eclipse, but this is expected on a smaller, older ship. There were very few kids on board, and those were on board were very well behaved. This cruise stands out for us for the number of people we spoke to and spent many an enjoyable evening chatting / dancing with ...although I am not sure at our age we should be up until 2/3am every night !! :-) We are RCI Diamond members and do wish there was consistency across the fleet as to how Diamond members should be treated at the nightly Diamond Event. We were disappointed that only wine was available at the event, rather than a wider selection of drinks, as with other RCI / Celebrity ships. First time we had used 'My Time' dining, and we found the service to be exemplary and it worked really well for us. What a brilliant and fun Captain ! Amusing and informative announcements, not too often, with just enough information. He actually understands that he is Capt of a cruises ship and the passengers really matter - he should give lessons to the Capt of the Independence ! Overall we loved the cruise, missed a few things which the bigger ships have, for example the Promenade, but the friendliness of the staff and the fun time we had, more than made up for it.

Cabin review: Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Port and Shore Excursions

Very interesting city at which we we docked overnight. I wasn't keen but my husband loved it. Very lively and lots to see, but sadly the Grand Bazaar was closed for a public holiday, but the Spice Market was good fun and the Turkish Delight is yummy !! Lots of street sellers who do pester you a bit (which I don't like) but the Blue Mosque and the New Mosque was stunning and I really enjoyed seeing such wonderful sights. Would definitely go again to explore more - and buy even more Turkish Delight :-)

We stopped in Valletta. What a great port, very interesting docking maneuvers ! We chose to do a tour looking around the Island, which was intersting and informative.
Never been before and very much looking forward to going. Found it boring and dirty..graffiti absolutely everywhere and it doesn't seem there was any attempt to clean it off. Could have benefited from employing street cleaners ! Traffic was horrendous. Wont ever go back.......

Ahhh, we love Rhodes. Friendly people and Rhodes town is very sweet. Worth a walk around the town or a swim in the sea at the nearby beaches.
