Just returned from Gem's October 16th cruise to Bermuda This was our 9th cruise -â€" 3rd on the Gem and 3rd to Bermuda. We were a part of a group of 11 which included an adorable 16 month old. They called us "10 and baby" in the dining room. What a different experience it was traveling with a large group and especially a baby.
The Gem is a beautiful ship and has an excellent staff and crew. We had a 9th Deck balcony stateroom. Our room steward Cheryll was superb and ranks up there at the top of my list. She immediately greeted us by name and there wasn't one time during the entire cruise that she didn't have a smile on her face and a cheerful disposition. The room was always immaculate, made up promptly and all requests were taken care of immediately. What a pleasure.
Dining was interesting with such a large group (and baby). We mostly had dinner in the Grand Pacific. We were seated almost immediately all nights (without reservations). The food was very good and the service was excellent. We found that the menu had something for everyone. DH and I did go one night to see the Gombey dancers and had a late "lobster night" dinner for two in the Grand Pacific - the lobster was really good. During the day - my favorites - the Great Outdoors for breakfast and around the pool or Bali Hai for lunch -â€" and of course Blue Lagoon.
