Great cruise, shame about the pastries
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Disembarkation went very smoothly and we found our luggage very quickly.
Magnificent ship. The ship still has the "new" smell, the carpets are all springy underfoot. Everything exudes superb build quality.
The public areas are all beautiful, ship extremely well laid out.
Our concierge stateroom on deck 10 was ready and waiting for us. Everything worked perfectly. Our steward introduced herself to us and we received perfect service from her and her team throughout our cruise.
Sun loungers - plenty of availability around the ship. Loved the fact that they all had cushions.
Food - we dined every night in the main dining room. I've seen various negative reviews about this, but, in our opinion the food and service were first class.
We never felt any need to visit any of the specialist More restaurants.
Very nice to see properly prepared kippers and smoked haddock in the MDR at breakfast.
The Ocean View Cafe had a good assortment of food at breakfast and lunch but evening? Oh dear very disappointing it just closed up. After the evening show we would make our way there expecting to find coffee and pastries. Were they there? no they were not, but, plenty of other disappointed people who, obviously, were there with the same intension.
The ship needs a proper pastry chef.
It pains me to say it, but, I have experienced much better deserts and evening catering on Princess and RCL.
Oh yes, and please can the bar staff be instructed in the art of making an Irish Coffee. The one I received was AWFUL. It seemed like it was just a latte with a shot of whisky and SQUIRTY cream from an aerosol on the top.
Ships crew - unfailingly superb. Watching them manoeuvre such a large ship in and out of port, I was full of admiration for the skills of the captain and the bridge crew.
On board entertainment - all musicians and the singers and dancers
were superb but seemed to be let down by the content of the shows. Big production shows, oh dear, after such a build up from the cruise director we were disappointed. Shows seemed badly put together and throughout the 12 nights were very repetitive.
Cruise Director - its probably me, but the guy just irritated me every time he came on stage and opened his mouth. We just couldn't warm to him.
Michaels Club - What a disappointment. I was expecting so much. A small depressing place with no atmosphere. The connections party was held there and there were just too many people for such a small venue. It's a shame that they could not use it as a cigar bar. That would liven it up.
Fellow guests - we found everyone polite and courteous. Ideal travelling companions and good company at dinner.
Ports of call - all these were exactly as expected and did not disappoint.
On balance, we had a wonderful cruise.
The positives greatly outweighed the negatives.
This was our first Celebrity cruise.
Would we cruise with Celebrity again?
Minor niggles aside, the overall quality of the experience was superb. Less
Cabin review: C31027 Concierge Class 3
Our cabin (1027) was perfectly adequate. Well maintained by our steward. We had a Concierge Guarantee and were very happy with the cabin allocated to us. Loved the bathroom. Compact but perfectly formed. Best onboard shower we have ever had. Toilet tissue, oh dear, terrible quality. first thing we did at our first port was to buy some proper toilet tissue.Read All Concierge Class 3 (C3) Reviews >>
