This was our first cruise with NCL and we were very disappointed. The EPIC is a new ship, so it was beautiful and the room steward and most of the staff were very accommodating.

Being "freestyle," we were able to eat whenever and wherever we wanted. However, we were not happy with the main dining room menus for dinner. The "fixed" menu was adequate, but the daily offerings were few - maybe 2-3 appetizers, 3-4 entrees, and the dessert choices were the same every day. The quality was good, not great. We ate dinner in the Garden Cafe (buffet) 4 nights of the 7. The room service breakfast was only continental, nothing hot.

The entertainment was another letdown. The big show, Blue Man Group, was good if you've never seen it before. The Cirque Dinner Show cost extra, so we didn't go. We were looking forward to "Legends in Concert," but it was really awful. It was Shakira, Whitney Houston and Elton John, who is the only one I'd consider a legend. If the Elton John segment had been first, we would have walked out on the other two. There were only 3 female dancers (one of whom was extremely heavy), and they weren't very good, or perhaps it was the choreography. There was no MC or Cruise Director to warm up the audience or to talk about the next day's events after the shows. The ship doesn't seem to have a "song and dance" team of its own except for the 3 female dancers. We went to see the Spanish Ballet in a venue totally wrong for dancers! Unless you were in the first row you couldn't see the dancers' feet! They had screens around the room, but then it's not like watching a live performance! We went to a show in the Bliss Lounge billed as "For Adults Only," at midnight. It turned out to be a Chippendale's-like show performed by STAFF - waiters, bus boys, etc. We walked out.
