Great cruise, Zaadam is in bad shape

Sail Date: October 2011
Destination: Mexican Riviera
Embarkation: San Diego

Long time fan of HAL, but will say have not cruised with HAL in five years..Food on this ship was the best we ever had on any cruise, service was great, and ship was very clean, bathroom was large and towels were large and fluffy. But, Zaadam is falling apart, carpet is old, stained, burned out lights all over ship, even the elevators direction(up/down) are burned out..Upholstery on chairs and benches in Main Show Room is old, worn, stained..Looks like new chairs and drapes in Lido. This ship needs a >>Fluff Job<< in worst way, people said it was in dry dock last year, but looks like they did not do much. Everone seemed to enjoy the trip. The Casino staff was the best Ive ever seen, and our waiter and house keeper were great, the Officers were not friendly at all, did not even look at you when you passed each other on the ship, but the crew always had a smile for you. Ive read many reviews about HAL ships falling apart inside, so we may return to Celebrity for next cruise, as More they are in same price range, and Celebrity keeps the ships up. Less
