Silver Whisper Cruise Review by m armstrong: A disappointing experience

A disappointing experience
Destination: Canada & New England
Embarkation: New York (Manhattan)
Having just returned from the Silver Whisper Cruise to Canada and New England, I have to express my disappointment in the experience. Although this cruise is billed as a 6 star luxury cruise, I feel I must disagree with some aspects of this billing.
Most of the cruise staff were indeed 6 star,(butler and cabin cleaner) however, some waiter staff were not. Fish served in the restaurants was not fresh on occasion and in general food choices were limited in comparison to other cruise lines we have travelled with. We expected cabins would be luxurious, but again in comparison with other cruise lines accommodation, it was on a par with 5 star. No fresh fruit or flowers were in our cabin on arrival although a cheap bottle of champagne was.
Smoking was permitted in the bar area which was very uncomfortable for non smokers and out of line with British no smoking policy in bars.
Entertainment was very poor, resident dancers and singers were mediocre, and certainly More not good enough for every night apart from one, when the resident host took over.
The Fitness Centre Leader was excellent, but sadly the pilates/yoga/stretch room only faciliated 6 people to participate in classes, and we had to take turns with other passengers in attending.
Bad weather prevented us from visiting St John, New Brunswick, but weather cannot be controlled.
This cruise was supposed to include all tips, however, this was very uncomfortable as some cruise staff hankered after tips on the last few days.
All in all this was a very disappointing cruise and I will not be travelling with Silver Sea again. Less

The Verandah suite, was comfortable, very clean and tastefully decorated. The verandah, however, was very small. The Closet was spacious.
