My wife and I are first time cruisers. Not knowing what to expect, we thought that we'd never try something like cruising yet there was a fascination with the idea since our age group grew up watching "The Love Boat" and wanted to try a different approach to taking a vacation. Our destination was "Alaska." My wife loves the mountains and the woods and I, being a California native, love the ocean. We thought that this would be the perfect vacation to take care of two adventures in one.
We flew to Seattle our disembarking port and took in the sites there a few days. On our last day, we then left the hotel and the shuttle proceeded to take us to the port. We were in awe as we saw the Infinity, such a large ship yet this ship was considered midsize. We were dropped off at the port in to a frenzy of travelers which was intimidating yet exciting. The Celebrity porters were very conscious and immediately wisked our luggage away and directed us to "check-in." Since we opted for the "concierge class" we immediately checked in and walked the gangway onto the ship. The rooms were not completely finished so Celebrity treated us to an early lunch and then we were allowed to go to our room within the hour.
Our room was on the Sky Deck on the starboard side of the ship right in the middle (for the smoothest ride). It was immaculate and we were treated to champagne and snacks. Within the hour we were off under a light rain and a dramatic beautiful sky around 5:00 p.m. We walked to the sports deck near the bow and the view was picture perfect.
Cabins on the Concierge Level were bigger than expected with a nice balcony. The views were spectacular, though the Sky Deck rooms were a bit noisy due to the walkway just being above your head. Lots of banging, noisy walking....other than that it was great.
